Jenny Craig diet centers closing all locations
Popular diet and nutrition company Jenny Craig is closing its center locations after four decades in business, according to reports.
NBC News obtained copies of an email sent to employees Tuesday saying it will close “due to its inability to secure additional financing.” The memo said the final day for salaried field employees will be Friday; hourly center employees’ last day working was Tuesday.
The company will reportedly shift to an e-commerce model.
Jenny Craig operated about 500 company-owned and franchised stores in the U.S. and Canada. It employed about 1,000 people.
California-based Jenny Craig was founded in 1983 and recruited a bevy of high-profile spokespeople, including Kirstie Alley, Valerie Bertinelli, Jason Alexander and Mariah Carey.
