Jefferson County woman indicted in Birmingham traffic crash death of 61-year-old man
A Jefferson County woman has been indicted in a 2023 crash that killed a 61-year-old man in Birmingham.
Riquea Lashuan Paige, 25, is charged with manslaughter in the death of Moses Clenton Thomas.
The crash happened at 2:30 a.m. on July 16, 2023, at 24th Street and Fifth Avenue South.
Thomas was traveling eastbound on Fifth Avenue South that Sunday morning. Authorities said Paige, driving an Infiniti G35, t-boned Thomas’s vehicle.
Both vehicles then hit two other cars.
Thomas was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene.
A Jefferson County grand jury issued the felony indictment on June 14, according to court records made public Friday. The indictment states Paige ran a red light and was speeding.
She was initially arrested in September 2023, and remains out of jail on $30,000 bond.
