Jefferson County Jail inmate dies after found unresponsive in private cell
A Jefferson County Jail inmate died over the weekend in the Bessemer Division lockup.
Jeremy Aram Baskin, 46, was found unresponsive in his private cell at 9:11 p.m. Saturday, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
He was pronounced dead at the jail at 9:48 p.m.
Baskin had been in the jail since Aug. 8 when he was arrested on multiple charges of failure to appear in court on misdemeanor charges.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said an autopsy performed Sunday showed no signs of foul play. The cause of death is pending further laboratory testing.
