JD Crowe: SignalGate: Trump’s team of sycophants is a cluster suck
This is an opinion cartoon.
In case you haven’t noticed, there is no bottom to the incompetence, lack of accountability and absurd chaos of the Trump administration. Every one of Trump’s cabinet picks are (A) completely unqualified (2) have a death wish for the department they’re heading or (C) both.
They all have three other things in common: Sycophancy. Complete sycophancy. So much sycophancy.
King Trump looks like a whale covered in sucky sycophant barnacles. (No disrespect to whales and sucky sycophant barnacles. Just a random reference.)
And then there’s Pete Hegseth: Trump’s pretty boy Fox News sycophant pick for the Department of Defense who doesn’t know the difference between a serious highly classified top secret whatever-you-do-don’t-tell-anybody-war plan meeting and a group text with his pretty boy day-drinking fraternity bros. I’m sure Trump besties Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un were giggling in silence on the same Signal chat.
Luckily, the reckless Signal chat was also sent to a journalist. Who did the right thing. Twice. Thanks for representing, Jeffrey Goldberg.

An excerpt:
We’ve learned two things this week. One, there is no limit to the incompetence of the Trump administration. It turns out that if you pick your team based on their political loyalty rather than their skills and experience, they’re going to screw up. Call this case Exhibit A.
My favorite Hegseth drawing on this issue was one of the first out of the chute – by the brilliant Steve Brodner: “Hey, Siri. Call a top secret meeting about, y’ know, a war.”
