Jay Cutler, former NFL QB, arrested for DUI, possession of handgun, tried to flee scene

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested for DUI and gun possession Thursday in Franklin, Tenn.

TMZ reports he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle. Officers claimed Cutler was slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes, while there was a strong smell of booze.

WKRN, citing court documents, reports Cutler tried to flee after offering the other driver $2,000 to not call police.

According to TMZ, Cutler, 41, refused to take field sobriety tests and one of the two guns in Cutler’s vehicle was a loaded pistol.

Cutler, a former Vanderbilt star, faces charges of driving under the influence, possessing a gun while intoxicated, failure to exercise due care, and implied consent.

Per WKRN, The driver, 61, of the rear-ended vehicle complained of back pain and drove himself to a hospital for treatment.

The quarterback played for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins from 2006 through 2017.
