James Spann’s Facebook, Instagram accounts suspended

If you are looking from weather updates from James Spann, you will have to use more traditional methods than social media.

The Birmingham-based meteorologist took to “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to contact Meta for a reason why both his Facebook and Instagram accounts were suspended Friday.

Meta notified James of the suspension, stating he could appeal the decision, but no reason was given for the account status.

ABC 33/40 News posted that management is “actively working with our social media team to get access to James’ pages restored.”

“Hey Meta, a little help here,” Spann posted on X. “I post weather and photos from followers. This morning my Facebook page, profile, and Instagram account were taken down. Needless to say a mistake, but I need someone to get these back online. Many rely on them (about 1.5 million combined).”

Meta’s message to Spann stated the account or activity on it doesn’t follow community standards.

Spann has 180 days to appeal the suspension or the accounts will be permanently disabled.
