Jalen Milroe, Ryan Williams argue who has better food: Alabama or Texas?

When it comes to the Alabama passing game, Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams are on the same page.

Williams, the freshman receiver, leads the team with 35 catches on the year, so, clearly, he and Milroe, his quarterback, have a connection.

Yet all relationships go through growing pains, and the two debated on the New Wave Pod whether Texas or Alabama has better food. Milroe, a Texas native, stood firm behind the Lonestar State. Williams, an Alabama native, defended his home territory.

“How is that even a question?” Milroe responded.

Last year, the AL.com staff threw down the gauntlet and named the best barbecue in Alabama, first in each of our biggest cities and then statewide. (And then readers told us what was really what …)

Williams explained Alabama has wings, BBQ, seafood and more.

Milroe countered with the same culinary delights, including Tex-Mex.

“You all aren’t even by no water,” Williams said after Milroe claimed seafood. “How y’all got seafood?”

“Gulf of Mexico,” Milroe replied.

“Bro, that’s ours,” Williams said.

The quarterback said Texas food is better. “Here’s the thing about Texas,” he said. “You can be driving down a dirt road, and there is nothing. You don’t see nothing. You see that small building. Might look like it is beat up. It might look like it isn’t run properly. You go in there, and you know what you are gonna get? A fire meal. Talking about a great meal.”
