Jalen Hurts’ Super Bowl Masterclass performance: ‘Win or learn’

“You either win or you learn.” – Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts’ fingerprints and cleat prints are all over Super Bowl LVII. His Philadelphia Eagles came out on the short end of the controversial referee stick at the end of this otherwise epic game, but Super Jalen donned his cape and ran, threw and willed the Eagles to near-victory while making Super Bowl history.

Hurts had a one-of-a-kind game on Sunday. The former Alabama quarterback delivered a record performance on football’s biggest stage, throwing for 304 yards and a touchdown, running for 70 yards and three scores and adding a game-tying 2-point conversion.

Super Jalen’s performance on the field was a Super Bowl Masterclass, and it continued into his post-game press conference.

“You either win or you learn,” Hurts said after the Chiefs comeback win. “That’s how I feel. Win, lose or draw, I always reflect on the things that I could’ve done better, the things we could’ve done better to try to take that next step. That’ll be the same process that goes on now.”

Patrick Mahomes, who was named Super Bowl LVII MVP, lauded Hurts in his postgame news conference.

“If there was any doubters left, there shouldn’t be now,” Mahomes said. “The way he stepped up on this stage and ran, threw the ball, whatever it took for his team to win, that was a special performance and I don’t want it to get lost in the loss that they had. Even whenever we got all the momentum in that game, and we went up eight points in the fourth quarter, for him to respond and move his team down the football field and run it in himself for the two-point conversion, it was a special performance by him, and you make sure you appreciate that when you look back on this game.”

This Eagles team is built right with a physically, mentally tough quarterback leading the way. Every loss, every challenge, every scar makes him stronger.

Super Jalen is built for revenge and bathes in redemption. He’ll be back. Pretty sure he’ll bring his team with him.

Here’s a blurb from an article about Hurts’ post-game Super Bowl press conference from Inc.com:

Jalen Hurts holds himself to a very high standard.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was obviously disappointed as he sat for his postgame Super Bowl interview. Hurts had just put on a historic performance, setting three NFL records in a game that came down to the final seconds, as the Chiefs took home the crown as this year’s top team.

But if you watch Hurts’s ten-minute interview–and I highly recommend you do–you’ll learn some important lessons for business owners and anyone striving for success. It all starts with a succinct, six-word summary from Hurts himself:

“You either win or you learn.”

Those six words prove to be a springboard for a master class in emotional intelligence, the ability to understand and manage your emotions and emotional behavior.
