David Surratt, the vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Oklahoma, posted video of Hurts receiving his degree on his Twitter account.

Hurts earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and information sciences from the University of Alabama, where he played the first three seasons of his college football career.

Hurts received the SEC Offensive Player of the Year Award as a freshman with the Crimson Tide in 2016. He transferred for the 2019 season after Tua Tagovailoa became Alabama’s starting quarterback in the 2018 season.

At Oklahoma, Hurts finished as the runner-up for the 2019 Heisman Trophy while starting work on his graduate degree.

Hurts completed his degree requirements during his three seasons in the NFL.

Hurts joined the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and became Philadelphia’s starting quarterback with four games remaining in his rookie season.

In 2022, Hurts finished second in the voting for The Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player Award as he became the first quarterback in NFL history to have a passing-efficiency rating of at least 100 while also running for at least 10 touchdowns.

After the Eagles won the NFC championship, Philadelphia’s season ended with a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. In the league’s title game for the 2022 season, Hurts became the only player in NFL history to have at least 300 passing yards, one touchdown pass, 70 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in the same game. He was the third player in the game’s history to account for at least 350 yards of total offense and four touchdowns and also tied the Super Bowl record for points with 20.

Philadelphia will kick off its 2023 schedule on Sept. 10, when the Eagles visit the New England Patriots.
