Jaguars’ Cam Robinson faces NFL suspension, reports say
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson missed the final five games last season because of a meniscus injury. During a press conference last week, Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke was asked if the former Alabama All-American would be recovered from the knee injury in time for training camp.
“From a health standpoint, yes,” Baalke said.
But Robinson might not be able to start his seventh NFL season on time.

Robinson is facing a suspension from the NFL for violating the league’s Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances, Sports Illustrated and ESPN reported.
Robinson has started at left tackle in the 78 games that he’s played since joining the Jaguars in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Jacksonville already lost its right tackle this offseason when Jawaan Taylor left for the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent.
Robinson won the Outland Trophy as college football’s best interior lineman in 2016 at Alabama.
As a rookie, Robinson started every game at left tackle for the Jaguars except the regular-season finale, which he sat out as Jacksonville prepared for its first playoff appearance since 2007. After winning three games in 2016, the Jaguars reached the AFC Championship Game in 2017 with the NFL’s No. 1 rushing offense.
On the Jaguars’ eighth offensive snap in the second game of the 2018 season, Robinson went down with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn meniscus in his left knee. The Jaguars used three more starters at left tackle that season and completed 2018 with a 5-11 record.
Robinson returned to practice on Aug. 13, 2019, before a hyperextended knee caused him to miss the first two regular-season games. He started the final 14 games at left tackle as Jacksonville posted a 6-10 record in 2019.
The Jaguars had a 1-15 record in 2020 as Robinson played in every game for the first time, and he started all of them at left tackle.
After the 2020 season, the Jaguars used their franchise tag on Robinson to keep him out of free agency. They didn’t get a long-term contract extension worked out with him, so after Robinson played 14 games in the 2021 season on the franchise-tag salary of $13.754 million, Jacksonville used its franchise tag on him again last offseason. But this time, the team and the tackle agreed on a long-term contract, and he signed a three-year, $54 million extension one year ago.
Last season, Robinson played nearly every offensive snap for Jacksonville until he got hurt in the Jaguars’ 40-34 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 18. Jacksonville still won its remaining three regular-season game to capture the AFC South title, then defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 31-30 in the postseason before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 27-20.
