Jaguars get back to work after dominant win at Oklahoma State

THREE THINGS TO LOOK FOR

1. Can South Alabama come down from its emotional high?

Jaguar Nation was justifiably elated after South Alabama crushed Oklahoma State 33-7 on the road last week, arguably the biggest win in program history. Now is the time for Wommack’s much-talked-about “neutral mindset” to take hold vs. a less-talented, but still-dangerous Central Michigan team.

2. Will the Jaguars spotlight receivers other than Caullin Lacy?

Lacy has had an excellent early-season with back-to-back 100-yard games, but he’s also caught 20 of 53 completion hauled in by Jaguar pass-catchers this year (20 of 48 if you don’t count the now-injured Devin Voisin). The Jaguars likely need to get Jamaal Pritchett, Javon Ivory and the tight end group as a whole more involved to continue success in the passing game.

3. How much quarterback rotating will we see from the Chippewas?

Sophomore Jase Bauer went the distance at quarterback vs. Notre Dame last week with redshirt freshman Bert Emanuel Jr. sidelined by illness, but Central Michigan coach Jim McElwain has said both will play on Saturday. The Jaguars handled Oklahoma State’s three-quarterback rotation just fine last week, so two shouldn’t be a major hassle.

KEY MATCHUP

Central Michigan QB Bert Emanuel Jr. vs. South Alabama SAF Yam Banks: Emanuel, the son of the former NFL receiver, likes to get outside the pocket and run, and it will be up to Banks and his fellow second-level defenders to keep him from gaining big yards.

BY THE NUMBERS

337 — Passing yards for Carter Bradley vs. Central Michigan last year, the second-most of his South Alabama career.
