Jacksonville State’s leading receiver to enter transfer portal

Jacksonville State wide receiver Cam Vaughn will look for a new home.

The receiver is set to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from Matt Zeitz of 247Sports. Vaughn will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Vaughn, who stands at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, earned All-Conference USA freshman team honors this season for Jax State after leading the team’s receiving room.

He finished the year with 39 catches for 620 receiving yards and four touchdowns, with all three marks leading the team.

His receiving yards ranked ninth among Conference USA receivers, with Vaughn also being the fifth-rated player on Jax State’s offense (78.8) according to Pro Football Focus.

The receiver was the hero of Jax State’s overtime win against Louisiana Tech, catching a Hail Mary pass from 49 yards out as the clock expired in the fourth quarter; he finished that game with a season-high 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns on seven catches.

Originally recruited as a quarterback, Vaughn is a native of Temple, Georgia.

He will join a growing group of Jax State players who have entered the transfer portal, with some entering following Rich Rodriguez’s move from Jax State to West Virginia.

A source told AL.com that some players who have entered the transfer portal from Jax State will play in the StaffDNA Cure Bowl against Ohio on Friday.
