Jacksonville State loses projected starting receiver for the season

Jacksonville State’s offense took another huge blow on Monday.

Wide receiver Brannon Spector announced on social media that he will be out for the season, due to a “severe elbow injury.”

“As I’m extremely disappointed by this injury, I can’t thank Jax State enough for taking a chance on me,” Spector wrote in a social media post. “I look forward to cheering on and encouraging my teammates for the rest of the season.”

Despite being listed as a starter on Jax State’s depth chart against Coastal Carolina, he did not see the field in the 55-27 loss.

Michael Pettway, P.J. Wells and Jordan McCants started at receiver for Jax State’s Week 1 contest.

Spector will join an injury report that already includes running back Ron Wiggins, who will be out for at least 10 weeks with a foot injury, and wide receiver Dallan Wright, who will miss the entire 2024 season.

The native of Calhoun, Georgia, spent five seasons at Clemson before announcing his transfer to Jacksonville State in January.

He played in 38 games with the Tigers, catching 38 passes for 372 yards and two touchdowns.
