Jacksonville State freshman guard set to enter NCAA transfer portal

Jacksonville State guard Quel’Ron House has entered the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on social media Sunday.

The 5-foot-11 freshman will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

House stepped into the starting lineup as a freshman following a preseason injury to Tennessee State transfer Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. and Jamar Franklin suffering a season-ending injury after 14 starts.

The freshman started all of the 22 final games of the season, averaging 8.4 points, 3 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 29 total appearances.

A Conference USA all-freshman team selection, he scored a season-high 20 points against Middle Tennessee State in the CUSA tournament semifinals after an 18-point performance against FIU in the quarterfinals.

The Louisville, Ky., native was a first team all-state selection out of high school and was a finalist for Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball award after his senior year at Seneca High School.
