Jackson woman killed in Wednesday night crash in Mobile

A 54-year-old Jackson woman died Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash on Schillinger Road just south of the Mobile city limits, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Troopers responded to the scene of the crash about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Initial investigation determined a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 52-year-old Aretha G. Martin, also of Jackson, with Rose Mary Jones as a passenger, was struck by a 2008 Ford Edge driven by Nicole Broadus, 26, of Wilmer.

Jones was critically injured and transported to Providence Hospital, where she later died. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to ALEA.

No other information was released and the crash remains under investigation.
