Jackson County deputies shoot, kill man wanted for questioning in homicide
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the fatal shooting of a man by Jackson County deputies Tuesday afternoon.
WAAY is reporting that the incident happened about 2:30 p.m. at a home on County Road 88 in Pisgah.
Jackson County Sheriff Rocky Harnen told the station an investigator went to the home to interview a man about a weeks-old homicide. The man was not a suspect but was wanted for questioning, according to WAFF.
According to Harnen, the man, whose name has not yet been released, “came at him with a rifle mounted on his shoulder” and then barricaded himself inside the home.
Later, the man emerged from the house and fired on deputies, Harnen said. Deputies returned fire, killing the man.
No deputies were injured.
