It was a positive day on Wall Street and a Mobile-area stock led the charge
All but three stocks in our Mobile and Alabama Stock Report saw gains Thursday in a positive day on Wall Street.
Enviva led the charge with a 7.1% increase. The wood pellet manufacturer partially exports out of the Port of Mobile and has a major facility coming soon to Epes in Sumter County.
Synovus Financial Corp. increased 3.4%. The Columbus, Ga.-based banking company operates with 32 branches in 20 different cities and towns in the state of Alabama.
ArcelorMittal rose 1.3%. Computer Programs and Systems was up .4%.
Overall, most stocks ticked higher on Wall Street Thursday following the latest signs that the U.S. economy remains stronger than feared.
The S&P 500 rose 19.58 points, or 0.4%, to 4,396.44 and is on track for its sixth winning week in the last seven. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 269.76, or 0.8%, to 34,122.42, while the Nasdaq composite edged down by 0.42, or less than 0.1%, to 13,591.33.
