Isaiah Horton tops list of Alabama’s best offensive additions for 2025
Alabama football signed a number of freshmen and a handful of transfers on the offensive side of the ball for the 2025 season. But which additions stand out the most?
Troy tight end Brody Dalton gives Alabama experience and size at tight end, both of which are needed after the departures of CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts to the NFL. But Dalton didn’t quite make this list. Also just missing the cut is offensive lineman Jackson Lloyd, a talented freshman prospect whom Alabama general manager Courtney Morgan compared to Jake Long, the former first-overall NFL Draft pick. Consider Dalton and Lloyd honorable mentions for this list
Here are the top five best additions Alabama made on offense heading into this season.
5. Kam Dewberry, offensive line
Securing Dewberry from Texas A&M gave Alabama a veteran option to compete at guard. And Alabama needs all the good options it can get there considering whoever starts at left guard will be replacing Tyler Booker, whom the Dallas Cowboys selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. It’s not easy to get experienced offensive linemen via the transfer portal because everyone wants more of them. So the fact Alabama landed Dewberry is an offseason win. A guy who’s experienced and in competition for a starting offensive line spot is a quality addition.
4. Lotzeir Brooks, receiver
Brooks grabbed attention right away this spring. During A-Day, he showed why onlookers who saw him in scrimmages spoke well of him. During the open practice, he caught a touchdown as he broke across the middle during a 7-on-7 period.
How much he contributes in his first season remains to be seen, but it’s clear Alabama’s got a player with potential to develop at receiver moving forward.
3. Michael Carroll, offensive line
Carroll was one of the top prospects Alabama signed in the 2025 signing class. The 247Sports composite ranked him No. 1 as an interior offensive lineman and No. 17 overall as a prospect. Those numbers automatically earn him a spot on this list. Whether he starts at all this year remains to be seen, but the talent’s there.
2. Keelon Russell, quarterback
He might not receive significant playing time this season, but Russell is one of Alabama’s best offensive additions this season. He’s the quarterback of the future. There’s a reason “special” is a word thrown around often when he’s talked about. The 247Sports Composite listed him as the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class and Alabama’s top overall in the recruiting class. The Crimson Tide landing him is nothing short of significant.
1. Isaiah Horton, receiver
All indications out of Tuscaloosa are that Horton is the real deal. He’s expected to combine forces with Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard to give the Crimson Tide a dynamic trio at receiver. Horton, specifically, gives the Crimson Tide a tall, athletic receiver it didn’t have at 6-4. As of where things stand right now, he’s the best addition for the offense heading into the 2025 season.
