Irondale woman indicted after 2 dogs died, one of them tied to a post, without food or water
An Irondale woman has been indicted in the death of two dogs.
A Jefferson County grand jury indicted 37-year-old Whitney Denise Brady, also known as Whitney Taggart, on two counts of aggravated animal cruelty. Both charges are felony crimes.
The indictment was issued April 19 and made public Friday.
The dogs died in February 2021. Brady was initially arrested at that time and released on bond.
According to the indictment, Brady tied a large black and white female dog to a wooden column behind her Irondale home and intentionally withheld food, water, shelter, and medical attention, causing the dog to die of environmental exposure, accidental self-strangulation, dehydration and/or starvation.
“Such act of cruelty or neglect involved in the infliction of torture to the animal,’’ the indictment reads.
The second dog was a small, white female dog which also died under similar conditions and circumstances at Brady’s home. The indictment did not say that dog was tied up.
Efforts to reach Brady’s attorney for comment on her behalf were not immediately successful.
A trial date has not yet been set.
