An Irondale man was killed in a Tuesday night shooting in Birmingham.

Police on Wednesday identified the victim as Stephen Kemp. He was 42.

West Precinct officers were dispatched about 7 p.m. to a report of a person shot in the 1100 block of Avenue F.

They arrived to find Kemp inside a vehicle that had been struck by the gunfire.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service took Kemp to UAB Hospital.

He was later pronounced dead.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said details in the investigation are limited. No arrests have been made.

Kemp is Birmingham’s 20th homicide this year.
