Intoxicated man threw things at cars, assaulted 2 Jeffco deputies during arrest, authorities say
A Birmingham man is behind bars after authorities say he injured two Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies who were trying to take him into custody.
The incident happened about 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Deputies were dispatched to Old Springville Road near Eagle Drive on a report of someone throwing objects at vehicles, said Lt. Joni Money.
A deputy arrived and encountered a man matching the description given by the victims.
When the deputy approached the suspect, he charged and assaulted the deputy. Additional deputies arrived and assisted in arresting the man.
All deputies involved were checked by medics on the scene. Two deputies were taken to a hospital where they were treated and released.
Vincent Kimbrough, 29, was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
Kimbrough remained held Sunday with bonds totaling $48,000.
