Inmate serving life sentence for murder dies in William Donaldson Correctional Facility infirmary
A man serving a life sentence for murder died Tuesday at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in western Jefferson County.
Sam Kevin Cox, 59, was found unresponsive at 12:05 p.m. in the prison infirmary, where he was being treated for significant natural diseases, said Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
Cox was pronounced dead at 12:35 p.m.
Yates said an autopsy that took place on Wednesday showed no signs of trauma or foul play.
Cox was convicted of murder in 1992 in Pike County.
