A 52-year-old state prison inmate has died at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in western Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the inmate as Allen Hugh Parker.

Parker was found unresponsive at 8:21 p.m. Friday by correctional officers. He was inside an open bay area of his assigned dorm.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. Authorities said there was no sign of foul play or trauma.

Parker was serving a 218-year sentence for first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse convictions out of Morgan County.

The investigation is ongoing.
