Injuries possible as storms, tornadoes down trees, power lines in west Alabama
Damage reports are pouring in as a dangerous storm system moves into Alabama from the west.
The National Weather Service surveyed a round of severe storms and tornadoes in west Alabama on Saturday afternoon.
The Saturday storms prompted tornado warnings, leaving affected areas with uprooted trees and downed power lines.
There have been and at least three confirmed tornadoes, in Tuscaloosa, Cullman and Pickens counties.
The Sipsey Fire Department responded to numerous reports of trees down, including some on houses.
Multiple houses have sustained damage, and there may be possible injuries on Campbellville Road northeast of Sipsey in Walker County.
A tornado touched down near the northwest city limits of Gordo around 4:45 p.m., snapping several trees on US-82.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham reported large trees down on AL-69 south of Tuscaloosa and Walker County, damaged by a possible tornado.
Reports from affected areas near Tuscaloosa detail significant damage across several counties, including Walker County.
The weather service confirmed a tornado at 3:41 p.m. crossing US-82 near Minas Road.
