An indoor pickleball company has picked Birmingham for the site of one of nearly two dozen opening this year.

Ace Pickleball Club will be bringing a location to Birmingham at 7043 Meadowlark Drive near the intersection of U.S. 280 and Alabama 119.

Ace Pickleball Club is currently on the map with 13 clubs open and operating, and more than 20 new locations across the country set to open this year.

New clubs are planned to open in Nebraska, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Wisconsin and Kansas in 2025.

Commercial real estate firm CBRE has partnered with Ace in its expansion.

CBRE’s Nena Mass said the company is “actively looking for sites across the country to meet the explosive demand for high quality, state of the art facilities.”

Pickleball has steadily been growing in popularity over the last decade. A Utah-based indoor pickleball court franchise opened its first Alabama location in Vestavia Hills earlier this year.

The Picklr is located at 1031 Montgomery Hwy.

Combining elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, the game was invented in 1965. The Sports & Fitness Industry Association said in 2023 that more than 13 million Americans had played pickleball at least once.
