Incumbents cruise to re-election in Mobile and Baldwin County

In Mobile and Baldwin Counties many incumbents cruised to unopposed victories on Election Day with only one race involving two candidates fighting for an elected position.

According to unofficial election results on Tuesday 100% of boxes were counted in both counties as of 10:35 p.m. In the only local contested race, Republican Ashleigh Long defeated her Democratic challenger Marsha Striveson Guy to become Mobile County Circuit Clerk.

Long got about 59% of the vote with receiving Guy 41%.

During her victory speech, Long thanked supporters and said she looks forward to serving as circuit clerk.

“I am so honored to be able to serve y‘all at this next level,” Long said. “I‘m confident that we will get Mobile County courthouse to be running just as efficient as every other courthouse across Alabama. So, thank you all again, I appreciate y’all and I look forward to serving you.”

In Baldwin County voters voted in favor of all three local amendments on the ballot. All three amendments were to create landmark districts for three areas including Bon Secour, Stapleton and White House Fork.
