In a new skit, Roy Wood Jr., Trevor Noah tussle in front of an Atlanta Waffle House

The Daily Show’s Roy Wood Jr. and Trevor Noah are tackling Waffle House— and apparently each other— in a new skit.

In a new promo spot posted to Youtube, the duo stands jovially in front of a Waffle House in Atlanta waiting to go inside.

On Monday, The Daily Show kicked off a week in Atlanta spotlighting a roster of shows covering Georgia’s role in the 2022 midterm elections.

“I can’t believe it Roy! A real life Waffle House in Atlanta. Man, I’m excited. This is my first time!” says Noah.

“You’re going to love it,” Wood responds.

“Alright, let’s do it!” says Noah. He takes a step toward the Waffle House, but Wood blocks him, saying they can’t go in yet. Playing the confused character, Noah demands to know why, asking if the restaurant is open.

“No, it’s open, but we’re waiting for the fight to start. And they spill out into the parking lot. It’s almost 2 a.m. It’s about to jump!” exclaims Wood.

Noah, who isn’t amused, tells Wood he came to Waffle House for the waffles, not the fights and insists on going inside.

That’s when Wood starts to mock him.

“I came for the waffles,” said Wood, imitating Noah’s voice. “You said you wanted the authentic Waffle House experience, right? The authentic Waffle House experience is watching strangers punch each other in the face. You record it. You go viral!”

Noah still wasn’t having it.

“I don’t feel like going viral recording someone’s fight!” Noah continues to whine. “I just want to eat the food.”

The men’s back and forth starts to get “heated.” Wood sticks his hand out to block Noah again. Noah demands “Take your hands off me!” Then the situation escalates as Noah screams “Ahhhh! You’re fighting me!” as the men grab at each other. It’s… a lot.

And as the duo tussles, director and filmmaker Tyler Perry makes a cameo, speaking on a cell phone.

“Oh, I have to call you back,” says Perry, taking the phone from his ear and holding it up to the melee. “This is about to go virrrallll.”

The video ends with Noah clenching Wood in a chokehold.

Well, that was… interesting.

The first guest on “The Daily Show” Atlanta week was Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. This is the first time the late-night show has been on the air in four years. When executive producers chose a place to go, they opted for Atlanta to hold four live shows a week leading up to the midterm elections, reports the AJC.

This may be one of the final “The Daily Show” road trips with Noah as host.

In September, Noah, who has hosted The Daily Show for seven years, announced that he’d be exiting the late-night TV show. Comedy Central hasn’t announced a successor, but a report from TMZ says Wood is in the running.
