‘I’m not encouraged’: Former Alabama players sound off on 2-point win over South Carolina

Alabama escaped with a 27-25 victory over South Carolina on Saturday in Tuscaloosa, narrowly avoiding another upset loss to a double-digit underdog.

It was three-plus hours of anxiety for Alabama fans, who saw their team blow a 14-0 first-half lead and then need a last-minute interception to seal the win. Former Crimson Tide players, many of them with multiple national championship rings, were feeling the stress as well.

Several of them, including George Teague, Alphonse Taylor, Mike Johnson, Mark Ingram, Marquis Maze and Will Lowery, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their thoughts during and after the game.

Here’s a sampling:

Ominous from the beginning

Bama line outmuscled or out-schemed?

Will it get better?

Doesn’t look like it

This is not how they planned it

Crying on the inside

Not a fan of the defensive scheme

But maybe it will work

Constant anxiety

Solid prediction, Marquis

Heisman winner not encouraged

Attitude adjustment needed?
