Illinois murder suspect arrested in Alabama
A man is being held in the Madison County Jail awaiting extradition after his arrest Sunday in connection with a murder investigation in Illinois.
Chief Jeff J. Ramsey of the East Moline (Ill.) police said police were called to a reported shooting on Saturday at 11:44 p.m. at an apartment complex in the city, which lies at the joining of the Rock and Mississippi rivers, near Iowa.
Officers found a man shot multiple times who died at the hospital shortly after.
Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson identified the victim as Michael J. Robinson, 22, of Davenport, Iowa.
Investigators identified Jarquez D. Robertson, 21, of Huntsville as a suspect, possibly fleeing the area in a vehicle back to Alabama.
A murder arrest warrant went out, and Huntsville police arrested Robinson at about 10 a.m. Sunday. He is being held at the Madison County Jail, with plans to extradite him back to the Rock Island County Jail in Illinois.
Silvis, Moline, Illinois State and Huntsville police, along with the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department and East Moline Fire assisted.
