Iconic rock band cancels tour, citing unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes
In a bizarre twist, the “Steve Miller Band” canceled its current tour Wednesday, citing weather.
The announcement was made on the band’s web site, citing “unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes” and more.
The tour included an Oct. 1 stop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Here is the full message:
“Dear Steve Miller Band fans,
“You make music with your instincts. You live your life by your instincts. Always trust your instincts. …
“The Steve Miller Band has cancelled all of our upcoming tour dates.
“The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable. So, you can blame it on the weather. The tour is cancelled.
Don’t know where, don’t know when … We hope to see you all again.”
The band — known for hits like “Rock ‘N Me” and “Take the Money and Run” — had 31 dates scheduled for its American tour, which was slated to begin Aug. 15 in Bethel, N.Y., per Variety.
