Iconic discount chain to open 150 new stores

Five Below, the super-trendy store featuring item at discount prices, continues to expand with an aggressive growth plan for the coming year.

The chain announced it will open 150 new stores in 2025. According to Fast Company, Five Below ended 2024 with 1,771 locations in 44 states with an average store size of 9,000 square feet.

“We have a unique opportunity to deliver amazing value across a curated assortment featuring consistent newness with simplified pricing. Our focus on affordability and value is not just a strategy; it’s a promise to our customers that Five Below is a place where they can find joy and excitement at wow prices,” Winnie Park, CEO, said in a statement.

Park said the chain is concentrating on its $1 and $5 price points while “raising the bar on adding value to our highly edited assortment of products above $5,” ChainStoreAge.com reported.

Locations for the planned expansion have not been announced but at least 50 of the stores are expected to be operational by the end of this month.

Five Below’s website lists new locations in eight states as “coming soon:” Madison, Alabama; Victorville, California; Pittsburgh, Kansas; Fort Mitchell, Kansas; Baltimore, Maryland; Depew, New York; New Castle, Pennsylvania; and Bluffton, South Carolina.

The website also shows newly opened stores in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

According to its most recent financial statements, new sales increased 7.8% in the fourth quarter and just over 10% for fiscal 2024.
