Ice Cube straightens out Katt Williams’s claims about Rickey Smiley

Ice Cube addressed Katt Williams’s claims about Rickey Smiley not getting the role of Money Mike in the threequel “Friday After Next.”

On Wednesday, Shannon Sharpe’s podcast show, “Club Shay Shay” went viral when Williams called out a slew of comedians and actors, one being Smiley.

Williams said that Smiley was never intended to play the character Money Mike.

Smiley also appeared on “Club Shay Shay” nearly a year ago, saying he was originally slated to play the character before changes were made.

In a nine minute video on Instagram, Cube, the star of “Friday After Next,” opened up by saying, “It’s been over 20 years since the movie came out, and people have different perspectives.”

Cube went on to say that Williams was correct for the most part, but wanted to clarify a few things.

“Rickey did give Money Mike a shot. But when we saw him, and how he moved and auditioned, we decided he would be a better Santa Clause, which was to me, the better casting. But when we saw Katt, I just knew he was perfect for Money Mike.”

Another claim that Cube wanted to clarify was William’s saying he wrote his part for Money Mike.

“The role was written, but he enhanced it. Which is why Katt was so dope in the movie. Money Mike had a small role, about as big as the Santa Clause role, but when we started the filming , he was giving much magic, that we kept expanding the role, and giving him more to do because he was on point.”

The last claim Cube wanted to clarify was Williams’ claim about a rape scene originally being in the script of “Friday After Next.”

“I would never shoot a rape scene, in a movie, especially like ‘Friday,’ where you actually see this happening on camera,” said Cube.

Smiley addressed Williams’ accusations on his nationally syndicated morning show, “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show,” on Thursday saying, “I had no reason to lie about that.”

Sharpe asked Williams about rumors of Ice Cube not paying people well.

Cube addressed that claim by saying he produces quality movies, said, “If any actor is mad about what they got paid, then look at what you were doing, look at where your career was at the time, and where it is now, and I believe ‘Friday’ has something to do with that.”

Cube went on to throw a a caveat out there saying, “I put a lot of people in movies, but they ain’t never put me in a movie. You can take that for what it’s worth. I gave these guys a lot of opportunities, and I still act, so I’m waiting for a call, I ain’t got to produce or write everything.”

However, Cube ended the video saying he has love for all the comedians he worked with.
