Huntsville’s ‘ambitious’ greenway system would cover more than 264 miles in the Rocket City

Land Trust of North Alabama Executive Director Marie Bostick describes the city of Huntsville’s goal of a greenway system as “ambitious.”

The city already has more than 42 miles of greenways. About nine miles are currently being developed. And more than 38 miles are proposed and included in the city’s capital budget.

That would seem impressive enough.

But the city’s goal is more than 264 miles that would connect every part of the city. That would leave more than 174 miles to go once every greenway proposed is completed.

“It’s ambitious,” Bostick said at a dedication of a small portion of the system Tuesday. “But certainly, it can be done.”
