The Huntsville Times Power 5 ranks the top softball teams in the area regardless of class.

There are plenty of familiar teams in the first Power 5 of the season with some surprises in smaller schools among the top 5.

5. Madison County (11-3)

The skinny: Class 4A Madison County has good wins over Class 7A Bob Jones, Oak Mountain and James Clemens along with Class 6A Athens. West Limestone is the only in-class loss with others to Class 6A Mucsle Shoals and Mortimer Jordan.
