Huntsville Times Player of the Week: Top performers back on court

The Huntsville Times Player of the Week delivered a strong performance in his return to action after almost two weeks away due to the winter storm that shut down most of North Alabama. His all-around effort helped his team stay unbeaten in area play and its long winning streak intact.

The season is returning to “normal” – except that several teams that have been forced to compress their area schedule into the finals days of the month.

Here are the top 5 performers with statistics through Jan. 24, based on information provided by coaches or scorekeepers:

5. Isaiah Baker, Austin. The 6-foot senior guard poured in 27 points in the Black Bears’ 78-42 win over James Clemens on Wednesday. Baker connected on five 3-point attempts on the night.

4. Alana Obianozie, Bob Jones. Obianozie, a 5-9 senior guard, scored 14 points as the top-ranked Patriots beat Austin 53-33 on Tuesday and 12 in an 80-28 rout of Florence on Wednesday.
