It was a mixture of small gains and small losses but a handful of local stocks were at the top of our list on Wednesday.

Adtran, a Huntsville-based telecommunications equipment company. led the way with a 3.8% gain.

Carpenter Technology was next with a 2.1% pickup.

Steelcase followed with a gain of 1.8%.

Regions had the biggest loss of 1.5%, followed by Sanmina at 1.2%.

Overall, stocks ended modestly higher Wednesday, extending Wall Street’s recent winning streak to its fourth day in a row and chipping away more of the market’s losses this month.
