Two Huntsville shopping centers along University Drive were recently acquired by a New York-based company.

Huntsville Plaza and University Plaza, which sit side-by-side at 5850 and 5900 University Drive, together consist of 191,000 square feet of retail space.

Montana Property Group acquired the properties for an undisclosed amount. Principal Elliot Tawil said the company closed on University Plaza in July, and Huntsville Plaza in May.

“Being a stone’s throw away from the billion-dollar Mid-City development, we believe that, due to this strategic location, the properties will thrive as the city continues to grow,” Tawil said.

The centers feature tenants such as Best Buy, Home Goods, Office Depot, Guitar Center and a soon-to-open Urban Air.

According to Montana Property Group, the centers were 97 occupied at the time of the sale.
