Huntsville police seek driver after 1 killed, 5 injured in 7-vehicle crash

Huntsville police say a motorcyclist has died and five others were taken to a local hospital after a seven-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.

Police say officers responded to the area of Highway 53 and Research Park Boulevard around 2 a.m. after reports of a crash, where they found one person dead and five others suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Huntsville Police Department Communications Specialist Sydney Martin said that the deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Jackie Jones, who was riding a motorcycle at the time of the crash.

Martin said the driver of the vehicle that caused the wreck fled the area on foot. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call Huntsville Police at 256-722-7100.

The five other people injured in the crash were taken by Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. to the hospital.
