Huntsville police say an officer was injured Sunday night in an altercation with a driver who has not been apprehended.

According to police, the incident began following a traffic stop on Rime Village Drive shortly after 9 p.m.

Police say an altercation happened between the driver and the officer who initiated the stop.

Details are sketchy as to what occurred, but police say the officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the altercation.

At this time, the driver is not in custody.

Police are investigating.
