Huntsville Police Officer Albert Morin released from hospital
Huntsville Police Officer Albert Morin, wounded in a shooting late last month that also killed Officer Garret Crumby, was released from the hospital Friday evening, the department announced.
“He will continue his recovery at home,” said department spokeswoman Sydney Martin.
“Officer Morin’s family has seen firsthand the love and care of his community and why he has chosen Huntsville as his home,” Martin continued. “The get-well cards, well wishes and prayers during this tough time have strengthened his resolve to recover.”
Earlier Friday, Morin issued a statement thanking his well wishers.
“My family and I have enjoyed reading through stacks of cards each day,” Morin said. “I would also like to thank the local businesses and churches that have donated food to my family and fellow officers during the past two weeks. It has helped ease (the) stress and burden during my recovery.”
Morin, 34, was wounded along with Officer Garrett Crumby, 36, and an unidentified woman on March 28 at an apartment complex on the 4600 block of Governors House Drive. Crumby died from his wounds. The woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Juan Robert Laws, 24, was booked into the Madison County Jail and faces the charge of capital murder of a law enforcement officer. He is expected to face additional charges. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20 at 1:30 p.m.
Both Crumby and Morin worked out of the department’s West Precinct.
Morin has been a Huntsville police officer since 2017.
