Huntsville man struck, killed wife with vehicle after argument, authorities say
A 45-year-old Huntsville man has been charged with murder after authorities say he struck his wife with a vehicle following an argument.
The incident happened Sunday at about 9:50 p.m. in 700 block of Davis Road in New Market, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responding to a 911 call found a woman with critical injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
The woman, later identified as Maria Silos, 31, was transported to Huntsville Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Investigators said Silos was originally driving a vehicle with her husband, Garland Rockwood of Huntsville, when the two began arguing.
Silos then pulled over to the roadside, where the incident continued outside the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators believe Lockwood then got behind the wheel and struck Silos.
Lockwood has been charged with Murder – Domestic Violence and is being held without bond in the Madison County Jail.
“This tragic incident is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
