Huntsville man punched, spit on officer, police say
A Huntsville man was arrested Wednesday after police say he punched, scratched and spit on a police officer.
According to a Huntsville police spokesperson, the incident happened in the 500 block of Eastbrook Drive shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
A police officer responded to a fight call. According to police, while the officer was trying to determine what was happening, Michael Leander Dillard, 57, became combative with the officer.
During a scuffle, police say Dillard scratched and punched the officer in the face. As he was being arrested, he then spit on the officer, who was treated at the scene for his injuries.
Dillard was charged with second degree aggravated assault, second degree police officer strong arm, and assault with bodily fluids.
He was released from the Madison County Jail Wednesday on $3,000 bond, according to jail records.
