Huntsville issues permits for $18.6 million apartment complex

The city of Huntsville issued three permits totaling more than $18.6 million for an apartment complex on Old Nursery Road in the northeastern part of the city.

It was the most expensive project issued permits in Madison, Morgan and Limestone counties last week.

The permits were issued for three buildings valued at more than $6.2 million each. They were issued to David Sumrall. Doug Hollyhand Realty of Tuscaloosa is listed as the builder.

According to Doug Hollyhand Realty’s website, it is the builder for several apartment and senior living facilities around Alabama, including Anniston, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Selma and Carrolton.

The apartment buildings represent three of the six projects that exceeded $1 million in the area last week.

Overall, 120 permits were issued in the three counties totaling $49.1 million. Huntsville issued 44 permits totaling $34.7 million. Madison County issued 51 for $8 million, Madison 10 for $2.4 million, Athens six for $2.2 million, Decatur seven for $1.4 million and Priceville two for $364,000.
