More than $58.5 million in new construction started in the Huntsville area since March 4, according to building permits pulled by Southern Exposure Information.

Overall, 240 permits were issued in Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties. Huntsville issued 97 permits totaling $23.4 million. Madison County issued 75 for $17.5 million, Madison 57 totaling $12.5 million and Decatur issued 11 permits totaling $5 million.
