Huntsville emergency shelters filling up as temperatures fall
Emergency shelters are filling up in the Huntsville area in the aftermath of a winter storm that has made travel hazardous with roads covered with snow and ice.
The Downtown Rescue Mission at 1400 Evangel Drive in northwest Huntsville had between 130 to 150 people and the Salvation Army at 305 Seminole Drive in southwest Huntsville had between 60 to 80 people as of Tuesday morning.
The numbers at both shelters could increase with temperatures expected to dip into the single digits on Wednesday.
