Huntsville City Football Club to face Nashville SC, Birmingham Legion in preseason
Huntsville City Football Club will find out pretty quick where it stands before opening play in its first season in Major League Soccer’s NEXT Pro league.
Huntsville City FC will square off against its parent club, MLS’ Nashville Soccer Club, in a closed match in Nashville. It will also the Birmingham Legion of the United Soccer League – a second tier league – in its preseason debut on Feb. 11 in Protective Stadium.
In all, Huntsville City FC will participate in eight preseason matches through March 22. That includes a game against the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Three of the matches will be held in Huntsville, with John Hunt Park serving as Huntsville City FC’s home field while Joe Davis Stadium undergoes renovations, which are not scheduled to be completed until the end of April.
Huntsville City FC will hold closed matches against Philadelphia Union II and the Chattanooga Red Wolves in addition to Nashville SC.
The club’s open preseason friendlies feature competition against the Savannah Clovers, FC Cincinnati 2, Chattanooga FC and UAH.
The match against the Birmingham Legion will be held at 4 p.m.
