Huntsville-area stocks set pace on positive day

The stock market was up on Tuesday and so were most of the companies on our Huntsville and Alabama Stock Report.

For the second straight day, Community Health Systems led the surge, soaring 5% this time.

Adtran, the Huntsville-based telecommunications equipment company, rose 2.7%.

Hexcel also saw an increase of 2.7%. The Connecticut-based company is a leading supplier of carbon fiber, honeycomb and other composite materials for the commercial aerospace industry. Its Decatur plant, established in 1989, produces polyacrylonitrile, or PAN, a precursor of carbon fiber.

Carpenter Technology jumped 1.6%, Sanmina was up 1.5% and Science Applications International Corporation rose 1.4%.

Overall, Wall Street rallied Tuesday after a round of reports suggested the economy is in better shape than feared.
