Huntsville area home prices shot up in October
The period of very little home sales price movement in the Huntsville area appears to be over.
Home prices shot up in all three area markets in October, according to data from ValleyMLS.
“This shows the strength of our local economy, job growth, and lack of supply even in the face of higher interest rates,” realtor Matt Curtis said. “It should also be concerning for buyers that are looking to purchase when rates come down. Lower rates will likely cause further price growth and erase a lot of the gains made by lower interest rates.”
The average home price in Huntsville and Madison County, including Madison, was $391,000 last month, a jump of $21,000 from September. The average sales price in October of last year was $374,000, an increase of 4.5% year-over-year.
But the most dramatic rise in the metro was in Athens and Limestone County, where the average sales price topped the market at $397,000. That’s a $69,000 increase over September. But it’s only a slight increase over where it was a year ago, when homes sold there for an average price of $396,000.
