The Huntsville/Tennessee Valley region has an abundance of outstanding boys basketball teams this season. The first Alabama Sports Writers Association poll includes 11 teams from the region in the seven AHSAA classifications.

Two teams were voted atop their class in the poll – Class 7A Huntsville and Class 6A defending champion Buckhorn.
