Huntsville agencies to receive $364,000 to help the homeless

Eight Huntsville non-profit agencies will soon receive $364,000 to help provide services to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The city of Huntsville Community Development Department will distribute the Fiscal 2022 Emergency Solutions Grant funds from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The Huntsville City Council approved eight resolutions for the grant funding at its regular meeting March 9.

“These actually fund projects like street outreach, shelter management, prevention and rehousing,” Huntsville Community Development Manager Scott Erwin said. “They are broken into categories and each one of these agencies does something unique to help the unsheltered population.”

Receiving funding are:

· AshaKiran – $25,000

· Crisis Services of North Alabama – $30,000
